Abstract

The year 1995 saw the realization of large projects that will impact SCK* CEN’s future. Among these, the refurbishment works of our BR2 reactor started after the reactor shutdown on June 22, 1995. Moreover, the PRACLAY Economie Interest Group could be started in collaboration with NIRAS/ONDRAF. This real-scale demonstration of high-activity waste disposal in a deep clay layer requires the digging of a second access shaft to our underground research facility HADES and the extension of the latter.
