A multi-region model of mouse kidney tissues for preclinical small-scale dosimetry of beta- and alpha-particle emitting radiopharmaceuticals

    Abstract

Absorbed dose heterogeneity is a major modifier of tissue response which can confound the analysis and prediction of toxicity in radiopharmaceutical therapy. Preclinical nephrotoxicity studies with detailed dosimetry of kidney tissues are useful to investigate the dose-response relationship of alpha- and beta-particle emitting radioligands with a non-uniform distribution in kidney tissues and provide insight on the translatability of the dose-response relationships of different radiopharmaceuticals. Such analyses are however limited by the scarcity of reference S coefficients (absorbed dose in target tissue per radionuclide decay in source tissue) available in the literature for various tissues of the mouse kidney.
