Abstract
A simple automatic device is presented by which it is possible to remove optically plane and parallel layers, of a thickness as low as 0.05 μm, while the removed material is directly collected on a paper disk. The diameter of the sample must not exceed 1 cm. The apparatus is also very useful for other difficult surfacing tasks.
