    Abstract

A unidirectional analytical transport equation for the migration of radionuclides is presented. Three important time dependent source conditions, namely concentration source, flux source and impulse source, described as exponential time series, are considered. General analytical solutions are given for the concentration C(x,t), the flux F(x,t), the quantity Q1(x,t) stored in the medium for distance greater than x, and the total quantity Q(t) stored in the medium. The reported analytical solutions cover the complete range of input parameters and time dependent source functions. The application of the model for the calculation of the migration of the radionuclides Np 237 and Pu 239 through a clay barrier is described.
