    Abstract

The internal friction of a polycrystalline rhenium specimen after different deformation and ageing treatments has been investigated both as a function of temperature and of strain amplitude. The mutual influence of these two parameters is interpreted in terms of a double‐kink generation relaxation process and of double‐kink stimulated mechanical break‐away, according to the Seeger‐Paré‐Alefeld and Granato‐Lücke theories.
