Abstract
A short survey of recent work on reaction mechanisms between heavy ions is presented.
The main points emphasized are:
1) the new possibilities offered by the observation of higher
order effects In Coulomb excitation ;
2) the description of quasi molecular States by means of a new
individual particle model .
