In the disposal of radium bearing waste in a near-surface disposal facility, the exhalation of radon should be carefully controlled within an allowable limit. Preliminary investigations about the exhalation of radon from a disposal container (monolith) due to conditioned radium bearing waste have been carried out in this report. A comparison is made with natural radon release from concrete structures from the disposal facility.
