Calculation methods of B4C control rod curves in a fast VENUS-F reactor

Research outputpeer-review

Abstract

VENUS-F is a fast zero-power reactor that serves as a mockup of the MYRRHA ADS coupled with a fast sub-critical reactor. It uses absorber rods made of B4C. In this paper, we present a detailed computational study focused on Monte Carlo and deterministic calculations of differential and integral control rod curves. We also demonstrate that the choice of the evaluated delayed neutron parameters has a considerable effect on the experimental control rod worth measured with the positive period technique. The discrepancies between experiments and calculations using various nuclear data libraries are discussed. The calculation-to-experiment ratio is smaller or bigger than 1 depending on the delayed neutron parameters.
