Abstract
The half-life of the low-energy isomeric state of U235 produced by α decay of Pu239 was measured as a function of various metallic environments. The results show a correlation between the half-life and the average electronegativity of the host metal. In addition, effects due to impurity diffusion of U in metals at room temperature are observed.
