    Abstract

This Milestone summarizes the preliminary results obtained from the field study performed inside the 100 km area impacted by the Fukushima-Daiichi accident to investigate the epigenetic changes induced by the radioactive contamination on a model organism, the tree frog Hyla japonica. Genotoxicity and DNA methylation effects were studied, together with an accurate estimation of radiological doses in the medium and in the frogs. The Milestone also provides an overview of the fieldwork to be carried out in 2016 to characterize the impact of the radioactive contamination on plants and earthworms.
