Comments on "A Resolution of the Stiffness Problem of Reactor Kinetics"

Chao and Attard published in 1985 a paper called ``A Resolution of the Stiffness Problem of Reactor Kinetics''. In this paper they provide a semi-analytical method to overcome the stiffness associated with the reactor point kinetics equations. For a typical problem they provide their "reference results". In later papers introducing other semi-analytical methods and one paper describing a purely numerical method, these reference results have been taken as ``exact''. Strangely enough, these values are in fact not exact at all for t >= 4s. In this paper, we provide the correct results for this ramp problem and compare the results of the other semi-analytical methods in later papers to the correct results.
