Abstract
The EURAD 2 Knowledge Management (KM) program aims to ensure a competent and sustainable European workforce in radioactive waste management (RWM). It supports Member States at different stages of implementing Council Directive 2011/70/Euratom through structured knowledge transfer, enabling expertise to be shared between advanced and less advanced national programs and across generations.
The School of RWM, established during EURAD 1, is a key instrument for building RWM competences. It is built on four pillars. The first delivers training courses for professionals and students. The second provides mobility and mentoring opportunities, offering financial support for junior scientists and facilitating intergenerational learning. The third ensures that the School addresses all aspects of RWM, highlighting the need for both specialists and generalists. The fourth supports EURAD-2’s Young Generation fostering professional development and recognising their role as future leaders.
These initiatives help build a resilient and future-ready RWM workforce through strategic knowledge management and collaborative competence building.
