Abstract

The model of LAWSON and URETSKY [1] for the energy levels of 6536 Cu29 is improved by allowing a mixing of the 3/2 ground state with the 3-/2 level arising from the coupling of the p3/2 odd proton wfth the 2+ first excited state of the even 6436Ni28 core. 6536 CuThe model then conThe model then conThe model then contains 5 parameters which are calculated from 5 experimental data and used to predict successfully other experimental results. Their values are shown to agree qualitatively with estimates of various nuclear Admixtures of sheiI model States other than the p3/2 are considered. The energies of the first four excited ieveis can be accounted for by considering a vector-vector interaction between the odd proton and the core. The present model agrees with α-particles inelastic scattering experiments. Comparison is also made with neighbouring nuclei.
