Abstract
Skin contaminations are likely to become more frequent with the growing number of radioactive laboratories and the increasing use of radioisotopes in research or routine. There is no hundred per cent efficiënt decontamination method available for all the possible skin contaminations. Many unknowns still subsist such as percutaneous absorption, tolerance levels and precise dosage methods for the contaminants not to speak of protective agents decontaminating products and the application techniques.
Any skin decontamination begins usually with water and soap washing which gives good results in many cases. But residual contamination has to be removed by more drastic methods which have still to be investigated.
