Abstract
Determination of the arsebic in vegetables by radioactivation and gamma-spectrometry techniques. Activation analysis in combination with γ-spectrometry permits the determination of natural levels of arsenic in plant matter. The isotope As76 is utilized for this determination after a chemical separation. This separation is carried out after mineralization (wet-ashing) of the irradiated sample, by precipitation of the As as As2S5. The recovery is in the order of 65 per cent for the chemical procedure and the limit of detection for As is 2 × 10-8g. The main advantage of the described method consists in the speed for serial determinations.
