Abstract
A dry method of low density UO2 and UO2-PuO2 pellet fabrication is described and analysed. The characteristics of the sintered pellets are controlled by regulating the deactivation condition as a function of the raw material properties and the pellet specifications. The main deactivation parameters as temperature, atmosphere and time are discussed and their effects on the final product are mentioned. The inhibiting effect of plutonium oxide on the deactivation efficiency is revealed. Finally, a fabrication of UO2-30 wt.% PuO2 pellets is taken as an example.
