    Abstract

One of the objectives of the RadoNorm project is to develop and test an open source social science toolbox of qualitative and quantitative methods related to risk perception of affected populations and stakeholders, views, attitudes and behaviour with regard to radon and NORM exposures and mitigation measures. It is crucial to emphasise that the toolbox functions as a dynamic database, continuously being updated and adapting in tandem with RadoNorm's ongoing research endeavours. Aligned with the fundamental principles of the European Union's open science policy, the RadoNorm toolbox actively supports and implements these principles. In order to facilitate the application of the social science research tools, two RadoNorm training courses were organised for authorities, researchers or other responsible organisations interested in applying social science methods. The first training course held in April 2021 focused on quantitative tools and in particular, public opinion survey analysis. The second
training course was held in January - February 2024 and delved into the qualitative social science research tools. The methods explained in both training courses, as well as the guidelines or protocols to apply these methods in the areas of radon and NORM, are included in RadoNorm open source methodological toolbox.
This deliverable describes the toolbox, its structure as well as the training material used during the training courses and available in the RadoNorm toolbox, which serves as a guide for navigating the toolbox, as an instrument to implement the European Union’s open science policy in RadoNorm.
