    Abstract

One of the objectives of the RadoNorm project is to establish a citizen science incubator for radon priority areas and a network of citizen science projects to address radon testing and mitigation. The aim is to provide a model and support for interested local communities and regions to launch citizen science projects in the field of radon. Firstly, RadoNorm identified the ongoing or past citizen science projects related to radon worldwide and published one scientific article on the findings (see Martell et al. 2021).
Secondly, RadoNorm citizen science pilot projects are developed and tested in France, Ireland, Hungary and Norway in order to propose a model for citizen science in EU Member States. Finally, local communities in radon priority areas in EU countries will be invited, through a RadoNorm open call on citizen science, to apply for funding to launch or expand a citizen science programme in their community.
This deliverable summarises the main actions undertaken by Task 6.3. to propose and establish a network of citizen science projects to address radon testing and mitigation in Europe. The deliverable describes the actions undertaken by the four citizen science pilot projects in France, Ireland, Hungary and Norway, including the formulation of the research question, the recruitment of volunteers, the challenges faced and the communication actions undertaken. RadoNorm citizen science projects (pilot and those funded by the open call) are also supported by a communication plan which is integrated in this report. Furthermore, based on the on-going experience in the four pilot countries, an open call for RadoNorm citizen science projects has been drafted and will be published in autumn 2022. The guidelines and Frequently Asked Questions together with the application form are also included in this deliverable.
