    Abstract

In the framework of WP 3.2 of the MTR+I3 project SCK•CEN has performed a feasibility and design study for the construction of a Heavy Liquid Metal (HLM) loop in one of the irradiation channels of the BR2 reactor. The pupose of this loop is to study combined effect of the exposure to flowing HLM (liquid lead bismuth eutectic) and the irradiation with neutrons on materials of interest. In the framework of the VELLA project a mock-up test of the HLM loop will be performed. The results of the feasibility study and the final design are presented as well as the planned mock-up tests.
