N2 - A magnetic after-effect setup, based on an open magnetic circuit, is developed and presented. The magnetic after-effect experiment aims to determine the time and temperature dependence of the initial susceptibility, which is obtained by an AC measurement of the mutual inductance. After sample demagnetization, the change of the time dependent initial susceptibility is measured for particular ferromagnetic materials at a chosen temperature. The setup is applied for the investigation of relaxation processes of dislocations and carbon atoms in Fe-C, Fe-Cu and Fe-Cr alloys.
