    Abstract

An application of the efficiency transfer method of efficiency determination in gamma-ray spectrometry is described, with both the standard and the measured sample being extended sources. The approach was successfully tested against experimental data. While carrying out the efficisncy transfer approach to efficiency determination can sometimes be risky with a point source serving as reference, we believe to have proved that even without any change in the parameters of the detector model the method can be reliably applied using several different sizes of extended standards. The one closest in geometry to the measured sample should then be selected for the analysis of the latter. The standards’ sizes should span the entire range of the sizes of the measured samples.
