Abstract

The incorporation of³H-benzene and¹⁴C alanyl labeled tryptophan into different serum proteins was investigated in the isolated perfused liver. Total body X-irradiation (24 hours after 1000 R) results in an increase in incorporation of³H tryptophan and in a decrease of incorporation of¹⁴C label. It is suggested, that less alanine and its metabolites are available after irradiation due to a diminished catabolism of tryptophan.
