    Abstract

    Due to the extremely low energy of the 235Um isomeric transition its decay rate can be perturbed by changes in the outermost electron subshells. Techniques for the source preparation and detecting systems for analysing the energy distribution of the conversion electrons and for measuring accurately the decay rate are described.
