Abstract

The whole of the study which lasted from 1961 to 1967 is published in two volumes. The first one specifies the problem arising from the contamination of the environment by the 226Ra of industrial effluents. The genesis, the development of the programme as well as the conclusions on the scientific, health, practical and executive level are described.
The second volume, entitled "Annexe Technique", deals with the various phases of the programme and the results obtained in each of the aspects studied: radiological survey, physico-chemical study of the dispersion of 226Ra, flora, fauna, agricultural studies, human survey. The methods of measurement of the samples are also detailed.
