Abstract

The main properties of the chopper System of the time-of-fIight spectrometer installed at the BR1 reactor for the study of the dynamics of atoms bound in solids and in liquids are described in this report. Formulae expressing a few character is 11 cs of the chopper are reviewed. Experimental data are given concerning speed stability, calibration of the time-of-fIight scale and transmission function of each of the three rotors. The influence of the rotational speed of the chopper on the energy
resolution of the spectrometer is briefly discussed.
