    Abstract

This paper presents the activities undertaken in several 7FP projects dealing with education and training (E&T) activities in radiation protection, nuclear chemistry and geological disposal. All projects aim at maximising transfer of high-level knowledge and understanding in the dedicated field, with emphasis on multi-disciplinary and/or trans-national and inter-sectoral mobility. The main goal is to foster lifelong learning and crossborder mobility of research workers and experts, for example, by developing a European registration system for Continuous Professional Development, which relies on the principles of modularity of courses and common qualification criteria and a common mutual recognition system.
