A relatively simple model is proposed for the evaluation of continuous fluidized bedreactors for the hydrofluorination and the fluorination of nuclear fuels. The model isderived trom the two-phase model proposed by Davidson-Harrison. The essential feature of the model is to dissociate unambiguously the kinetic parameter from the parameter, which is a characteristic for the gas-solid contact pattern in the fluidized bed. Predicted conversions with contact parameters extrapolated from the literature correspond to experimental conversions, obtained in semi-pilot runs Within the fluidization conditions and bed geometries. imposed by the nuclear nature of the solid. the conversion is limited by the kinetics rather than by the gas-solid contact.
