An experimental set-up will be described in which the production of defects in thin metal foils by irradiation with alpha particles at temperatures down to 2, 5 K and their subsequent recovery up to 100 K can be studied by means of electrical resistivity measurements. Following the low temperature irradiation it is possible to perform exact measurements of the critical temperature Tc of superconductivity (0nnestemperature) and residual resistivity-measurements without warming up the specimens.
