    Abstract

Heat is being used more and more as a groundwater ow tracer. To assess the potential use of temperature logs to characterize groundwater ow in the shallow Neogene aquifer in the Mol-Dessel-Retie area, Belgium, exploratory temperature logs were gathered between 16 February and 08 March, 2012, at the eigth wells, belonging to the SCK•CEN local or regional piezometric networks. This exploratory data was gathered in the framework of the research by Rogiers, and therefore focuses on an area particularly relevant to the Belgian project for surface disposal of low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste. This report provides a brief overview of the equipment used, the different tests that were done, and the resulting raw and corrected temperature logs. Moreover, a qualitative interpretation of the observed patterns is provided as well, awaiting more quantitative analyses in future.
