Abstract

The GBR study group, which was formed in December 1969, considered first of all the design of a 1000 MW(e) gas-cooled fast reactor using fuel pins. Subsequently, the group studied reactors with lay-outs similar to that of the pin reactor but using coated particle fuel assemblies. Two different arrangements of assemblies using coated particles are selected. This report summarizes the more important features of these particular assemblies and the associated materials technology.
