Abstract

An attempt has been made to polymerize acrylonitrile under gamma irradiation both at 26“C and at -78°C In the presence of additives having various electric properties, Chemical compos111ons and speciflc surface areas.In the liquid phase the rate of poIymerization is greatly increased by the presence of additives having a large specific surface area. The factors responsible for this are discussed and the probable mechanism is considered.
