Abstract

The usage of NaI(Tl) well detectors in radionuclide metrology is reviewed. The system in use at IRK. LMRI, NBS, PTB, and SCK/CEN † CBNM-Central Bureau for Nuclear Measurements, Euratom. Geel. Belgium. are compared. The results of an intercomparison of the computer codes applied to 4τγ integral counting of radionuclides with complex decay schemes are presented. In view of the eventual production of a specific instrument, the suitable characteristics of an amplifier for pulse processing are analyzed in the case of a large dynamic range, low-threshold counting and high count rates.
