High resolution electron microscopic observations of the superstructure of tantalum pentoxide

    Abstract

    High resolution electron microscopic observation of tantalum pentoxide thin films reveals simultaneously lattice fringes due to the superstructure and to the basic structure. The observations support the concept of "shear structures" put forward for this type of crystal by Magnéli and by Wadsley.
