    Abstract

The corrosion rate and mechanism of a number of candidate canister materials, structural materials of the repository and simulated vitrified waste forms will be tested in two representative environments during the storage of radioactive waste in a geological clay formation. These environments are: direct contact with clay; and a humid atmosphere loaded with clay extracts. The corrosion experiments will be carried out at approx 15oC, 50oC, 90oC and 170oC for total exposure times of 50.000 h. -after Authors
