Abstract
A central force lattice dynamical model, previously applied by Slaggie to the CaF2 structure of ZrH2, is extended to the BiF3 structure. It is used for the analysis of inelastic neutron scattering data on cerium hydrides CeH1.98 and CeH2.72. For both samples the force constants are derived. The values of the corresponding force constants in both hydrides are different. The additional hydrogen in the CeH2 structure is found to be weakly bound.
