    Abstract

The yield of chromosomal abnormalities was studied in cultured lymphocytes irradiated in vitro after different periods of storage (24, 48, 72 h) in plastic or glass containers. The blood was cultured, under standard conditions, for 48 h immediately after irradiation and 200-400 metaphases were examined for severe choromosomal aberrations. Blood stored for 48 and 72 h displayed a higher yield of abnormalities after irradiation than that stored for 24 h. No differences could be discerned in this pattern between blood stored in plastic containers and that stored in glass containers.
