Abstract
Infrared multiphoton vibrational excitation and dissociation (IRMPD) of halomethanes induced by CO//2 laser pulses have been studied extensively in the past, especially as regards the selectivity of the process for the carbon (**1**2, **1**3C) and, possibly, for the hydrogen (D and T) isotopes. We present measurements on the IRMPD of CF//3Cl. The main objective was the study of the effect of gas pressure and laser pulse energy on the IRMPD isotopic selectivity and yield. These questions are important for a better understanding of the basic phenomena and for the possible applications to practical isotope separation.
