    Abstract

The influence of temperature on the ion exchange reactions of zirconyl phosphate in the H+ form with Rb, Cs, Ca, Sr, Ce and Eu has been studied. It appears that Rb and Cs are very strongly adsorbed at room temperature but easily eluted at 80-100°C. The other nuclides investigated do not show such properties. The thermodynamic quantities ΔG, ΔH and ΔS of the reactions are derived and throw some light on the exchange mechanism of the different ions studied, particularly of the alkali metal ions.
