This lecture gives a survey of the various research work carried out in Belgium on the irradiation of food. Studies on the conservation of vegetables and fruit, the desinfestation of food, and the influence of the irradiation on wheat-flour are described. Other studies concerning the whoIesomeness of irradiated food are mentioned and also the gamma irradiation facilities available in Belgium .
A list of Belgian publications on the subject is added.
