The different radioelements used in the Belgian biological research laboratories and the activities used are indicated. The types of utilization of 3H, 14C, 32P, 125I, 131I, 85Sr and 226Ra and the handling procedures of contaminated wastes of these radionuclides are described. Finally, the the activities rejected 'in situ' by all the laboratories which were investigated in this research are estimated.
