    Abstract

The European Commission sponsors the progress of liquid metal cooled fast neutron reactors through funding collaborative framework projects. Within this paper, the thermal hydraulic activities performed in the recently finished MAXSIMA, SESAME, and MYRTE projects will be described and an outlook will be provided to the activities scheduled for the new PASCAL and PATRICIA projects which started in autumn 2020. The following topics from those projects will be discussed in the paper: • Turbulent heat flux modelling in Computational Fluid Dynamics • Fuel assembly blockage experiments and simulations • Experiments and simulations for deformed fuel assemblies • Fluid-structure interaction in grid-spaced rod bundles • Pool thermal hydraulics, sloshing experiments and modelling strategies • Integral system thermal hydraulics experiments and modelling strategies For each of these topics, the purpose and approaches for addressing them will be introduced, the achievements met in the recently finished collaborative projects will be summarized, and a glimpse of the activities planned in the recently started projects will be provided.
