Abstract
We measured the in vitro synthesis of DNA in the presence of aqueous extracts of
regeneratirig rat livers. Suuspensions of microsomes from normal liver powerfully
inhibit this incorporation. The observed inhibition is not due to a hydrolysis of primer DNA by alkaline DNAase (EC 3.1.4.5) nor to a dephosphorylation of the precursors by phosphatases.
Microsomes prepared from regeneratmg livers have a smaller inhibitory power
than that of normal liver microsomes.
