MACROS Benchmark Calculations and Analysis of Fission Gas Release in MOX with high Content of Plutonium

    Research outputpeer-review

    Abstract

Combined consideration of neutronic, depletion, transport and diffusion problems ultimately gives output distributions of Xe, Cs and other key fission products that can be directly compared with Electron Probe Micro-Analysis (EPMA) and Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) measurements. The paper is divided into two parts. The first part describes the fact that JNES performs the irradiation test with MOX having high plutonium content using the Belgian Reactor 2 (BR-2) and published the result in TOPFUEL 2009. The second part describes the result of benchmark calculation with the MACROS code using the result of the first part as well as other data openly available at the SCK•CEN.
