    Abstract

A preliminary mechanical characterisation of two ODS versions of EUROFER97 has been carried out by means of tensile and instrumented KLST Charpy tests. The two alloys, which contain different weight percentages of Yttrium oxide (Y2O3, 0.3% and 0.5%), have been characterised in two orientations in the "as-HIPped" state. With respect to the "non-ODS" version of this RAFM steel, the production process used by PLANSEE on behalf of FZK (mechanical alloying + hot isostatic pressing, no postproduction heat treatment) has significantly increased the tensile properties but also dramatically degraded the toughness characteristics, as clearly shown by impact test results.
