Abstract
This thesis analyzes possibilities for neutron absorbing elements for the XT-ADS core to be used during re-loading operations. Based on the needed anti-reactivity, the student analyzes different geometrical configurations of absorbing rods in the fixed dimensions of a fuel element. He compares absorbing rods of the same diameter as the fuel pins (easier fabrication) to rods with larger diameter and configurations with central holes in them.
