Abstract

Experimental data from leaching tests have been modelled with the geochemical code PHREEQC. The following objectives were achieved: (i) the main solubility controlling minerals for matrix elements (Ca, Mg, Al and Si) and for one heavy metal (Pb) were identified; (ii) the effect of carbonation on leaching of major elements and lead was simulated; (iii) the importance of including solid solutions and surface complexation for simulation of lead leaching was indicated.
