Abstract
This paper presents the on-going activities of the IAEA MODARIA working group 8, including the development of a database of dynamic parameters for wildlife dose assessment and exercises involving modelling the exposure of organisms in the marine coastal environment near the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear complex. In the area of dosimetry, the group is evaluating the heterogeneous distribution of radionuclides within organisms and comparing dose rate estimates assuming simple geometries with those generated by Voxel phantoms. There is also ongoing work to evaluate how to model the exposure of animals in spatially heterogeneous contaminated environments.
