    Abstract

Message to the reader : Follow-up studies demonstrate that besides cancer, also some non-cancer (i.e. cardiovascular, digestive and respiratory) diseases can be caused by high doses of ionizing radiation. In the IARC 15-country study of nuclear industry workers it was evaluated whether mortality from diseases other than cancer was related to radiation dose.
