Abstract
The concept of multiscale modelling of materials is introduced as the only physically valid approach to model the behaviour of nuclear materials. Its connection with experiments and technological issues is described. Next, criteria for the elaboration of a multiscale modelling plan are detailed, finally describing the issues addressed with this approach within the Joint Programme of Nuclear Materials.
