Abstract

In order to contribute to sustainable energy production, some of the options currently under development are based on Accelerator Driven Systems (ADS), which are subcritical reactors coupled to accelerators. These characteristics make them very safe and versatile. The Multi-purpose hYbrid Research Reactor for High-tech Applications (MYRRHA) is one such facility being designed at SCK CEN in Mol, Belgium. In this paper, MYRRHA is presented.
